Frequently asked questions

Search Engine Optimization (SEO)

This section covers questions about pagebloom's search engine optimization features.

What aspects of my pages are configurable for SEO ?

pagebloom was designed from the start to support intelligent SEO configuration. As well as being able to edit the content on each page pagebloom supports the configuration of the page title (the text that appears in the caption of your browser tab), *keyword meta data and description meta data.

When a new page is created pagebloom will make a default, intuitive calculation of the page title based on, for example, the product name in the case of product pages. Leaving a product's SEO title field blank will produce a title constructed via this default mechanism. If you wish to fine tune it then you can via the SEO configuration facilities in pagebloom.

*keyword meta data has low value in the ranking algorithms of most search engines.

How do I adjust the SEO settings for the home page?

Log in to your site select "Control" > "Administration" in the top right corner.

Select "Website" > "Settings".

Then choose "Basic Settings".

You will see fields that allow you to change the page title, description and meta data.

How do I adjust the SEO settings for product and category pages?

Log in to your site select "Control" > "Administration" in the top right corner.

Select "Products" > "Management".

You will see the product catalog arranged in a tree like structure. Expand branches by clicking on the grey triangle next to a category name.

Right click on the text of the name of the category or product that you wish to configure and select the ''SEO meta data menu item".

You will see fields that allow you to change the page title, description and meta data.

If title is left blank then a reasonable title will be constructed from the website name and the product name.
