Streamlining of the ordering process for new users

February 3, 2010

Entry of address details has been made much simpler and intuitive.

Address data request deferred

Before this improvement the entry of customer address data was not as streamlined as it could be and we have also deferred the point at which their address data is requested: When a user viewed or added an item to the shopping cart they were prompted to fill out their address details if those details had not previously been filled out. The user address is no longer required at that point - the requirement for entering an address is now deferred until the user proceeds to the check out page instead of when they view the shopping cart.

Inline address data entry

The user used to have to navigate into a separate 'member profile' section of pagebloom in order to enter their address details and then return to the page that they were on in the product catalog. This is no longer necessary - the user can enter their address, if not previously entered, directly into a form that appears in the normal processing of their order on their way to the check out page. There is no need to go to a different 'member profile' section of the pagebloom site and when they have completed their address entry they are automatically returned to the check out page. Of course they can still go to the 'member profile' section at any time to update their address details if these change.
